Founding Statement

 

The Final Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Council

Held today 17-10-2008 in Baghdad in Al-Fikr Community Centre the eighth plenary meeting of Iraq Freedom Congress Central Council attended by the majority of its members and chapters leadership in various cities.

 The meeting was opened by a minute of silence in tribute to the victims of war, occupation and terrorism. And then a vote on the agenda that consisted of the Executive bureau report on the activities of IFC during the period between the seventh and eighth meeting and recent activities outside Iraq especially its participation in the conference of the Communications Workers of Cuba, the conference of the National Assembly for Peace and Democracy in Japan and the conference of the Marxist Leninist in Canada to tour and rally supporters for the cause of the Iraqis.

 On the subject of leadership and the revolutionary movement and position of IFC, this was presented by Samir Adil. Samir addressed the reality of the revolutionary movement in Iraq and the most important problems that it  faces such as  rampant frustration and despair that prevail in society, occupation's attempts to break the will of the revolutionary masses, the regional governments support to various gangs and sectarian ethnic militias who intend to spread chaos and terror as well as poverty and deprivation that is flooding the Iraqi society.

 He also talked about the state of IFC who is the only hope (regardless of the strengths or weaknesses) but standing in the forefront of the revolutionary movement in Iraq. Also Samir said that IFC is at a turning point that is either progresses and advances the revolutionary movement in Iraq or retreat. He said that we have no choice but progress; however this progress is conditioned with the determination of our leadership.

 The participants also passed a statement on the U.S. - Iraq security Treaty, with some amendments and plans to organize a political campaign against the agreement in question.

 Also the participants passed another statement on protecting and supporting the workers movements. and another statement for students on the new academic year. The participants also approved a new structure for the leadership, and to hold a second conference within 6 months time.

 The participants also decided to prevent each member of the Central Council from joining non-secular parties or nominating members of non-secular parties to the Central Council of IFC.

 In the end, the participants re-elected Samir Adil as a President of IFC, Hassan Klildar as deputy and Saeed Nima as secretary of the Central Council. Also the Executive Bureau members were elected and they are Subhi Al-Badri, Laith Ali Firyal Akbar, Azad Ahmed, Abdul-Zahra Abdul Hassan, Abu Watan, Majed Hameed, and Awad Ahmed.
